In December Studio started with the programme “Children’s Art”. This festival gathered over 120 pupils from the 11 primary schools of Valjevo region. They competed in literature, painting and music art. With the help of City Municipality and many donors Studio printed also the newspapers “Children’s Art” where were published prose texts, poems, interviews with young musicians as well as black and white and color reproductions of painted works. The festival was consisted of the afternoon concert in the Art Hall of Cultural Centre, where talented children presented themselves, than paintings exhibition opening ceremony in the Studio and winners annunciation in all categories. Also, the winners were awarded with books, games and specially printed diplomas for this occasion. Jury made by prominent reviewers and artists judged children’s works. Young painters were evaluated by famous artist and Professor Stanko Zecevic and academic painter Mile Petrovic. The best three works were selected to be printed and sold as New Year’s cards. Writers Radovan Beli Markovic and Velibor Marjanovic assessed the most successful prose text and poems. Music producer Olga Markovic, music Professor Sladjana Torbica and our famous singer Djordje Marjanovic judged young musicians. Most successful participants Dragan Sredojevic (violin) from Valjevo and the vocal group from the primary school “Saint Sava” from Popucke, will represent our country at the 2003 Slovenian Festival in Belarusian city Vitebsk.
Festival “Children’s Art” gave a great contribution to artistic expression of the youngest citizens and the organizers wish for encouragement and affirmation of children’s art totally came true.
