The exhibition entitled “Poetics of the Mediterranean” by famous Montenegrin artist Luka Berberović was officially opened on 8th June 2010 at 19:00 hours. Luka Berberovic belongs to an elite group of not only Montenegrian but the Yugoslavian renowned artists of the older generation.
The exhibition was opened by Mr. Mirko Mrkić Ostroški, who is a friend and former student of Luke Berberović. In his speech at the opening he said that Mića Trnavac who was also a student of Luka suggested to make a small appreciation to this great artist and professor Luka Berberovic and organize him the exhibition.
Sharing and still fulfilling the destiny of modern art history Luka Berberović ise still looking for the mysteries of light and color. Since he stepped to the art scene he is committed to persist in his love for painting but still very rare kind of artistic integrity.
Berberovic was born in the 1934th in Morinje, Kotor, Monte Negro. He graduated in painting from the 1958th at the Belgrade Academy of Applied Arts. He had over forty solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions at home and abroad. For many years he has worked in educational work. He was a professor at the renowned School of Art in Herceg Novi and taught painting at the Teachers Training College in Niksic. He is a member of Association of Fine Artists of Montenegro for last 50 years. He has won several prestigious awards for his art and creativity.
Valjevo and the Serbian audience had the opportunity to enjoy the Berberovic oeuvre consisting of 17 oil paintings of large-format. In his paintings where human figures dominate are also often present views, typical of the Mediterranean region. So the exhibition title “The Poetics of the Mediterranean” is not chosen by chance because Luka Berberovic, with his paintings actually sings to the Mediterranean!
Visitors had the opportunity to enjoy in little music perforamance by local music school students. Violin quartet ensembled of ypoung violinists Jane Rasic, Galina Djordjevic, George and Mitra Jovanovic, under the Professor Suzana Radovanovic-Peric presented the Mozart “Minuet” from “A Little Night Music” and “Little Serenade” by Preprek. A flutist Mina Radic and Radica Đedović who are students of third year music high school in the class of Professor Nevena Nikolic played “Duet no. 3” by Kivanc.
